Norwich football team The Bell Inn has missed an opportunity to sign a world class forward after contract talks broke down.
Mark Weatherup, a scorer of more than 500 career league goals, offered his services to new Bell manager Tee Bree as first choice ringer.
The 23-year-old former Fells Afc chairman expected to be taken up on the generous offer however Bree asked him to put his name down on a facebook group to apply for a place in the team.
Weatherup obviously refused as he has bigger fish to fry. ‘
‘I don’t do trials. I train all year round and will not be begging Bree for a place in an average football team. I am the best player in that squad and I’m not even in it.”
Weatherup, currently a free agent, has a number of offers on the table and is expected to make a decision on his future this week.
