Bell Inn complete signing of Jamie Butler

The Bell Inn today completed the signing of Jamie ‘I can play anywhere’ Butler.

Butler, signed from Deopham, will go straight into the squad for this weekends crunch game at home to SDC United.

Butlers hobbies include going to the LCR and going paint-balling in morph suits.

His strengths are his strong hair style and his main weakness is his addiction to alcohol.

Butler will be our last signing of the season as the Bell Inn hope to bounce back from last weeks defeat and get back on course for the league and cup double.

Jamie Butler when his hair was awful.

Donovan Earns 50th Cap, Brown is the Hero (Adam)

The Bell Inn maintained their 100% record in all competitions with a 5-2 win at home to DEFC, the game in a word was rubbish, The Bell inn were terrible in the first half and found themselves behind for the first time all season, yes it is hard to believe we were losing a game we are simply too good to put ourselves into losing positions.

DEFC signed on accomplished player John Muir before the game who had spells with Lakeford FC in his youth days, and more recently Wymondham Rangers. Full Career Statistics are available on his wikipedia page. www.wikipedia.org/john.muir

With many players hungover the Bell inn started the game very slow and disjointed and quickly found themselves 1-0 down to lets be honest a pretty poor side. Dale Simpson made it level shortly after with the use of his patented trick called the Simpson ricochet, for those of you who aren’t familiar with this piece of magic, it is when Dale dribbles with the ball and gets ‘tackled’ numerous times with the ball ricocheting off his knees and the opposition players and the ball still falls nicely at his path with him left to finish the ball nicely into the top corner of the net, this now makes Simpson Joint top scorer for the club with 9 goals with myself obviously.

The Rest of the second half was poor and i didn’t really watch it, i was too busy enjoying myself with the ultra’s who made the game much more entertaining and were the highlight of my morning. But i do know that the first half score was 1-1.

The second half saw us make one change with Bean coming off for Adam Brown, who occupied his normal centre midfield role, Pushing Josh “Fattow” Farrow up front or you may want to refer to him as thief how he now being commonly referred to by many of his friends and associates.

The Bell inn did manage to take the lead at the beginning of the second half and quite frankly i don’t know how, and it wasn’t deserved, but Josh Farrow did finish well.

Did i mention the opposition only had 10 men for the majority of the game? if i didn’t you know now and we still struggled.

DEFC managed to pull it back to 2-2 with 30 minutes remaining with a great finish from outside the box following a challenge on Tom Collishaw, with the opposition player looping it over Donovan on the line from outside the area..

We were in danger of losing the game, despite the opposition only having 10 men we didn’t look like scoring until Adam Brown popped up in the area to make it 3-2 with 15 minutes remaining from a yard out.

Brown then turned provider when he cleverly dinked the ball over the Back line for Farrow who cooly lobbed the goalkeeper, it was a very good goal. Class some may say. There was time for Brown to score his second when he headed home from close range to make it an undeserved 5-2 victory for the Bell Inn.

I think i speak for the whole team in saying a special thanks to John Farrow, who kindly refereed the game as the designated referee did not turn up. He officiated the game well, and quite frankly no one else wanted to do it. Thank-you John.

We need to perform much better than this, the game was easily our worst performance of the season.. Hopefully we can put it behind us. I am sure Richard Donovan would rather he earned his 50th Cap in a better and more memorable game for the right reasons.

He did have this to say “50 caps for such a big club – obviously i am very proud and honoured”

Manager Tom Brown who this week is on the bench for Mulbarton ‘A’ Team due to being a very poor player had this response “I’m Embarrassed to have this clown as my captain and the sooner his knee completely gives way the better”

Im not going to give any player stats this week, we didn’t play very well and i think we just forget about how we played. MOM is obviously Adam Brown #teamsatty. He scored 2 and set up one in 45 mins. I do not know how he managed this as before the game he was seen hiding in the trees being violently sick.

Instead i am going to give the Ultra’s Ratings on how well they supported the team.

Gareth Baker – 10 Star Man.

James McCloy – 9

Jamie Butler – 9

Matty Bradfield – 9

Jonny Page – 8

Luke Rackham – 4

Lastly i would like to apologise for the delay in writing this blog, as you may know Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 was released 10 days ago and i have been playing ever since. Once playing 15 hours straight in one day, so i have had better things to be doing than sitting here writing.

Thank you for your time

Ribs Rovers v Bell Inn preview

The Bell Inn take on Ribs Rovers for the first time in their history on Sunday as they look to move further clear at the top of the table.

After Poringland’s two defeats in a row, the Bell Inn find themselves 4 points clear with 2 games in hand. Poringland play One Love United on Sunday too, meaning one of our rivals are certain to drop points.

Joe Pattison and Reece Ashman are still suspended, Paul Munday is away visiting family and Robbie Stone is in London.

Joint-manager Tom Brown is in line to make his first outfield appearance of the season with the other manager, Neil Anderson, still deciding whether to play full-back or wing.

Bell Inn recieve walkover and progress to last 16

The Bell Inn made it through to the last 16 of the Norfolk County Cup this morning without even playing.

Their opponents, Unicorn Reserves, obviously heard the news that the clubs all time leading scorers Tom Brown and Ian Babb were starting up front and pulled out at 9.30am this morning.

The Bell Inn have already beat Unicorns this season in the league and had a slightly weakened team out this morning so the opposition actually had a chance.

Next week we return to league action with an away game at on-form Ribs Rovers.

Ribs picked up an impressive 4-0 win at home to Breckland Spirit FC in the cup this morning and find themselves 6th in Division 2B, but with a few games in hand.

Also, last weeks match report/blog is being written by the suspended Joe Pattison. Despite constant reminders, the striker has now taken over a week to write the blog.

He has until tomorrow to send it to me else he will be dropped until the new year.

Regards,

Tom ‘5-2’ Brown

Donovan to earn 50th cap

Club captain Richard Donovan will win his 50th Bell Inn cap tomorrow as they travel to Poringland in a top of the table clash.

Donovan, 27, has been with the Bell Inn since they started just over 2 years ago and is the first player to reach the big 50.

His career has been up and down for the Sunday club.

In the early days, Donovan would turn up to games hungover and with an on-going knee injury.

Things haven’t changed.

In fact, it is estimated that Donovan has been hungover for at least 40 of the 50 games.

However, he has been one of the Bell Inn’s best players over the years and recently has been given a role as Treasurer, by managers Tom Brown and Neil Anderson.

The game itself is a big one.

Bell Inn have 21 points, Poringland have 20. Many of the Bell Inn side left Poringland to join them. There is a lot of stake for the club and people’s egos.

We will be taking a squad of 15 over to Poringland and team selection this weekend has proven very difficult.

However, with roll on roll off subs, we can chop and change when needed and hopefully bring back the 3 points.

Squad

T. Collishaw, D.Bland, R.Stone. R.Donovan, L.Appleton, R.Ashman, J.Tarrant, N.Anderson, J.Hyde, J.Pattison, D.Simpson, A.Brown, J.Farrow, W.Farrow, S.Freemantle.

10.45am kick off at The Footpath in Poringland.
