Bell Inn Poll number 2

Briston 0 v 2 Bell Inn

The Bell Inn took on rivals Briston on Sunday morning in their biggest game of the season so far.

With Briston lying just 3 points behind the Bell Inn, it was crucial they went there and came away with the win.

And that they did.

A four-car convoy from Tombland started the day off, which involved winger Reece Ashman leaning out of a car window 3 times to be sick.

This also involved Dale Simpson trying to overtake his team-mates on impossible roads. He failed, a few times.

Joint manager Neil Anderson led the convey and drove very well.

However, some of Danny Bland’s driving was questionable.

Eventually everyone made it to the ground just in time to hear Ashman’s exploits from the night before.

These we cannot repeat on here, but it involves the words ‘girls’, ‘four’ and ‘black’.

It was a shaky start for the Bell Inn, with Briston creating a few half chances which were all blazed high and wide of the goal.

Then the Bell Inn took control, only for the Briston players to foul again and again as they simply could not handle the speed and skill of the Bell Inn attacks.

With 15 minutes gone, Dale Simpson burst through and was hacked down by the Briston keeper.

Briston complained, calling Simpson a cheat and a diver as Josh Farrow stepped up and smashed the penalty down the middle of the goal.

More fouls followed, including some ‘bickering’ between the Bell Inn management and a Briston sub.

After 35 minutes another strong attack forced the home keeper into making a good save, only for Ashman, who had his head bandaged up and quite frankly looked like a penis, to place the ball into the bottom corner.

The fouls continued including one disgraceful lunge on Josh Farrow, which saw him limp off with a knee the size of a goal ball.

Half time – Briston 0 – 2 Bell Inn

Quite amazingly, the Briston manager/goalkeeper spent the whole of half time moaning to the ref about the Bell Inn being dirty.

He was getting wound up. You could see it in his eyes. He was due to snap any minute.

The Bell Inn’s subs bench was a bit weak so it was important everyone put in a shift and fought until the end in which was going to be a tough second half.

Neil Anderson was already on for the injured Farrow and Brown decided not to get changed and to concentrate on management.

This left a drunk Liam Ward who hadn’t played for over a month and a goalkeeper, Chris Richmond.

The Bell Inn did what they needed to do in the second half and held on for a good victory; their first ever away at Briston.

Controversy did continue in the second half however, as a suicidal ball from Anderson left Tarrant with no other option to reach for a 50/50 challenge.

As you can imagine, he got chopped down and was lucky to escape a leg break.

Minutes later, Simpson flew in two footed and was also lucky to escape a card.

This frustrated the Briston defence and next time Simpson got the ball they were out to kill him.

This resulted in them missing him and two of their players two-footing each other; both going to ground injured.

Final Score – Briston 0 – 2 Bell Inn

(Scorers – J.Farrow pen, R.Ashman)

PLAYER RATINGS

Tom Collishaw – 7 – Not a lot to do but did what he needed to when called upon.

Jamie ‘Pike’ Butler – 9 – Superb addition to the squad; Brown’s Champ Manager experience in the transfer market is to thank for this. Didn’t let the winger past him all game.

Richard Donovan – 8 – No goals this season, still.

Danny Bland – 8 – Such a nicer person and better player when not drunk/hungover. Keep it up.

Robbie Stone – 8 – Started shaky but grew into the game. Purchased sandwiches for me on the way to the game.

Reece Ashman – 8 – Considering he had 2 hours sleep and engaged in quite simply amazing activities the night before, did well.

Jack Tarrant – 9 – Will be sorely missed next week.

Adam Brown – 8 – Lively, linked well with the strikers.

Josh Farrow – 7 – Game cut short by injury.

Joe Pattison – 8 – Much better display.

Dale Simpson – 9 – Unplayable at times.

SUBS

Neil Anderson – 8 – First game for a while, worked well with Butler on the right.

Liam Ward – 7 – Did the job he needed to do.

Chris Richmond – 0 – Refused to come on as he wanted to save the £2 match fee.

For man of the match today, I asked the players to vote via text.

Here were some of the replies…

Anonymous – Dale or Pike. Actually,Bean. No its Pike, Bean will never get a man of the match award.

Anonymous – Me. If not Dale.

Anonymous – Dale quality but Pike has made a massive difference. So Jamie.

Robbie Stone – I will vote for Robbie. Love from Rich D. (He then went for Dale after being explained to that you can’t vote yourself)

Anonymous – The forward who came off second half, the skinny one. (Despite being a regular, still struggles to remember people’s names)

The final scores were Dale 7, Butler 5, Bland 1 and Tarrant 1.

Man of the match – Dale Simpson

Also, a big thanks to Danny Moore.

Moore, who is currently out injured, went to scout next weeks opponents One Love as they struggled to a 2-2 draw with Salhouse.

The scouting report can be found at TB Blogs on Facebook.

And finally, well done to everyone today. We knew three points today would put us in a good position regarding the league title.

Three points next weekend will put us in a simply brilliant position.

But today everyone was simply superb and played their part in a top win. Big things are coming. Let’s carry it on.

And to make things better, the Briston manager quit after the game because he is a fucking bad loser.

Regards,

Tom ‘One Hate United’ Brown.

Bell Inn through to County Cup Semi Finals

The Bell Inn reached the semi-final of the Norfolk County Cup with a 7-1 thrashing of Breydon this morning.

Despite several of the squad out injured, the club from Barnham Broom came back from 1-0 down to record an empathic win.

Despite sending texts to some of the squad the previous day, telling them not to go out and get drunk the night before, joint-manager Tom Brown succumbed and was seen on Prince of Wales Road at 5am.

Birthday Boy James Hyde turned up with his family and our sponsors Pips Skip and would have liked what they saw.

Joint-manager Neil Anderson decided not to play as he still has his cold from a month ago. This illness is now getting worrying and could be something more serious.

Although dominating and missing chance after chance, The Bell Inn found themselves 1-0 down with a goal against the run of play.

Breydon’s lead didn’t last long however, as Dale Simpson was dragged down in the box and Joe Pattison slotted the penalty home.

Minutes later a brash challenge on Will Farrow saw another penalty awarded and this time Pattison wasn’t so cool.

Despite it being 1-1 in a cup quarter final, the baby-faced striker decided to dinky chip the ball down the middle of the goal, to which the goalkeeper just stood and caught it.

Cries from the fans of ‘get him off’ didn’t phase him though and he went on to put in a good shift.

However, behaviour like this again will see Pattison dropped to the reserves, just like he has been for Mulbarton.

The Bell Inn continued to dominate and just before half time Jack Tarrant hit a shot about 20 yards wide, but it took a kind deflection of someone and went in.

Tarrant has since tried to claim the goal. He won. Goal for Tarrant.

Half time – Bell Inn 2 -1 Breydon

Another inspriational half time team talk from Brown and Anderson seemed to wake the Bell Inn up and the second half saw one of the best displays this season.

Josh Farrow came off the bench for his brother and scored two good goals. He also hit the post twice.

Dale Simpson also scored apparently but I can’t remember. It may even have been Adam Brown.

Today Simpson wore new boots and just like his old ones, the ball sticks to them and he still rides every challenge without fail.

In form striker Brown had fifteen minutes up front at the end and scored a brilliant goal whilst rounding the keeper.

He then turned provider after a brilliant move involving four players resulted in a dinky chip for Jamie Butler to head home.

However, concernedly, club captain Richard Donovan is now over half way through the season and hasn’t scored.

The once prolific centre back has 10 league games and a potential two cup games to break this season’s duck.

I for one hopes he doesn’t do it.

Final Score – Bell Inn 7 v 1 Breydon

(J.Farrow 2, Pattison, Tarrant, T.Brown, Butler, Simpson/A.Brown)

Danny Bland – 8 – First game in three months not hungover.

Dale Simpson – 8 – Never stops running.

SUBS

Josh Farrow – 9 – STAR MAN – Annoyed to be sub but showed everyone what he can do when he tries.

Robbie Stone – 8 – Spend all of this morning claiming to be a striker. Came on at left back.

Tom Brown – 8 – Absolute goal machine.

Good win, easy win, semi finals.

Next two games versus Briston and One Love are big.

Briston are now only three points behind us.

However, if we win them both, we will be at least 1/16 for the title.

And finally a special mention must go to the support today.

The Hyde family, without you we would be cold.

Eagle, Tubbs and Mrs Eagle, provided us with entertainment on the bench.

Chris Carter, the best coach in Norfolk.

Matty Bradfield, who is quickly becoming our number 1 fan.

The Simpson family and Dale’s girlfriend.

And of course Mr Donovan, Phil and their crew.

INABIT.

Tom ‘I’m losing my favourite game’ Brown.
